All-star senior soccer game on-tap

Several recently graduated local boys’ and girls’ soccer standouts will take part in the 24th annual Western Maine Conference vs. Southwestern Maine Activities Association all-star soccer tournament to benefit Special Olympics Maine Tuesday, Aug. 5 at Westbrook High School. The boys’ game will be played at 6 p.m. The girls’ contest starts at 8 p.m. Local boys’ players include Cape Elizabeth’s Omah Khalidi, Cheverus’ Charlie Mull, Deering’s David Bujambi, Freeport’s Nick Nelsonwood, Greely’s Aidan Black, Matt Crowley and Alex McAdoo, North Yarmouth Academy’s Jackson Cohan-Smith, Portland’s Ek Bakunda, Ibrahim Dahir and Yusef Yama, Scarborough’s Charlie Mader and Wyatt Omsberg, South Portland’s Cal Cronin and Daniel Fox and Yarmouth’s David Murphy, Chandler Smith and Max Watson. Greely’s Mike Andreasen is coaching the WMC team, while Portland’s Rocco Frenzilli and Scarborough’s Mark Diaz will coach the SMAA. In the girls’ game, players include Cape Elizabeth’s Elise Flathers and Phoebe Shields, Cheverus’ Maddie Richardson, Deering’s Alexis Elowtich, McAuley’s Skylar Cambridge, NYA’s Chloe Leishman, Portland’s Emma Stehli, Scarborough’s Ainsley Jamieson and Sydney Martin, South Portland’s Bridget Campbell and Waynflete’s Leigh Fernandez. Cape Elizabeth’s Craig Fannan and NYA’s Josh Thornton will be the WMC coaches. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students. Olympia Sports is the tournament’s sponsor.
