SMCC baseball red-hot entering postseason

Southern Maine Community College’s baseball team will host the NECA tournament beginning Saturday. The Seawolves wrapped up their regular season last weekend with a very impressive 10-4 mark (6-2 in the Yankee Small College Conference). Last week, SMCC beat rival Central Maine CC twice (14-0 in five innings and 20-4 in five innings), downed the University of New Hampshire’s club team (9-3) and split a doubleheader with U. Maine-Farmington (winning, 9-6, and losing, 6-1). Softball fell to 4-5-1 (2-4 in conference) after a 6-4 win over UNH’s club team and 7-2 and 16-3 setbacks to U. Maine-Farmington.  SMCC hosts the NECA tournament beginning Saturday. On the pitch, the men lost, 3-1, at U. Maine-Machias Saturday to drop to 2-5-2 (2-2-1 in conference). The Seawolves host CMCC Wednesday and visit CMCC Sunday. The women’s squad fell at U. Maine-Machias, 4-0, Saturday to fall to 2-5-1 (0-4-1 in conference). SMCC is home with CMCC Wednesday and goes to CMCC Sunday. Golf is coming off a fourth-place finish over the weekend.
