Cheverus names interim baseball coach

In the wake of longtime baseball coach Al Livingston’s resignation last week, Cheverus High has named Marshall “Mac” McKew as its interim coach for the 2009 season. McKew played at the University of Southern Maine and has been a coach in the Portland Babe Ruth League, Frozen Ropes fall program and American Legion.

“I know most of these boys from the American Legion program,” said McKew. We’re looking to continue a good baseball experience for them at Cheverus. It’s about the boys, the game, the program and Cheverus.”
“Mac is a good fit into the values, purpose and climate of the school,” said Cheverus athletic director Gary Hoyt. “Bottom line: He’s a talented coach who is enthusiastic about baseball.”
