Pasini Miller runs at Lake Placid
Back on April 1, we wrote about Katie Pasini Miller’s quest to keep the memory of her sister-in-law, Erica Miller, alive by running with The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society’s (LLS) Team in Training in a half-marathon in Lake Placid, N.Y. That race was held June 14 and Miller, along with 329 others, helped raise $823,000 for blood cancer research and patient care.

PBC fighters earn three bronze medals
Three Portland Boxing Club members won bronze medals at the USA Boxing 2009 National Championships in Denver, Col. Five-time national welterweight champion Lisa Kuronya, featherweight Liz Leddy and middleweight Russell Lamour all made it to the semifinals.

Field hockey all-star game Saturday
The annual senior field hockey all-star game will be played Saturday at Colby College in Waterville, with the alumni game starting at 5.30 p.m. and the all-stars playing at 7 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for students and seniors, all the proceeds go to our charity of choice, the Family Violence Project.

Portland Rec track program underway
The Portland Recreation Department is offering a USA track and field summer youth program for ages 7 through 14 Mondays and Tuesdays from 4:15 to 5:45 p.m., at Fitzpatrick Stadium. Lady Rams Hoops Camp upcoming
The two-time defending Class A state champion girls’ basketball program is holding a Hoop Camp from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m., June 29 through July 3 at the Deering gym. The camp is directed by Rams varsity coach Mike Murphy. Cost is $150 per player. FMI, 854-1775.

USM lacrosse hosting two fundraisers
The University of Southern Maine men’s lacrosse team, coming off the first winning season in program history, is hosting a skills clinic/competition for boys ages 6 to 18 and a boys’ high school 3-versus-3 tournament on Saturday at the Gorham campus’ Hodgdon Field. The clinic is from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $25 for pre-registration and $30 the day of. The 3v3 tournament goes from 12:30 to 4 p.m. Cost is $60 per team. New, unique lacrosse camp starting up
Former Yarmouth High lacrosse standouts Jon and Sam Miller are introducing the Grip and Rip Lacrosse Camp this summer. The camp is geared toward players who want to play in college, teaching them about the process, while continuing to hone their skills. Current college players will be in attendance as well to step up the level of play even higher. Jon Miller was a Division III All-American at Union College. Sam Miller currently plays DI lacrosse at Hobart College. The camp runs from June 29 through July 7, from to 5 to 8 p.m. daily on Yarmouth High’s turf field. The price is $125. Field hockey camp upcoming
The Cougar field hockey camp, run in part by Greely varsity coach Kristina Lane Prescott, featuring individual help at all levels and positions, offense, defense and goalkeeping, will be offered June 29 through July 2 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Fitzpatrick Stadium in Portland. Ziggy’s Running Camp open for registration
Ziggy’s Running Camp for boys and girls ages 12 to 18, presented by Waynflete School cross country and track coach Brian “Ziggy” Gillespie, a member of the Maine Running Hall of Fame, will be held July 13 through 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. , at the Waynflete athletic field. First annual lacrosse refereeing camp scheduled
The first annual Midcoast Lacrosse Refereeing Camp will be held July 6 through 9 at Bowdoin College. Times are 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. the first three days and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 9. Directed by Mary Parker and Sue Perkins, the camp features classroom instruction, mechanics, game tape analysis, rules clarification, extensive on-field mentoring and more.
