SailMaine seeking coaches

SailMaine is seeking fall coaches for its high school teams. Assistant coaches are also sought. The season begins in mid-August and ends Oct. 31. Teams practice three days a week from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. FMI, sailmaine.org.

McAuley offering girls’ basketball camp

PBC fighters earn wins

Portland Boxing Club super flyweight Jorge Abiague won his second pro bout Friday night. In the undercard of an ESPN2 telecast from Laredo, Texas, Abiague won a unanimous decision over China’s My Li Ming. Closer to home, in Searsport, middleweight Russell Lamour beat Kenny Farr of Burlington, Vt., in a bout stopped in the third round. Light welterweight Casey Kramlich defeated Ricky Ford of Clearmont, N.H.

Portland Rec track program underway

The Portland Recreation Department is offering a USA track and field
summer youth program for ages 7 through 14 Mondays and Tuesdays from
4:15 to 5:45 p.m., at Fitzpatrick Stadium. Meets will be held Thursdays
at various locations. The program runs through Aug. 8. The fee is $85

Ziggy’s Running Camp open for registration

Ziggy’s Running Camp for boys and girls ages 12 to 18, presented by
Waynflete School cross country and track coach Brian “Ziggy” Gillespie,
a member of the Maine Running Hall of Fame, will be held July 13
through 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. , at the Waynflete athletic field.
Enrollment is limited to 10 boys and 10 girls. The cost is $175. FMI,

Mainely Stars field hockey camp taking registration

The Mainely Stars field hockey camp, for players entering grades 2
through 12, will be held July 6 through 9 at Greely High School.
Directed by Greely varsity coach Kristina Lane Prescott and featuring
special guest, Bowdoin coach Nicky Pearson, the camp will provide a
fun, challenging atmosphere. Players entering grades 2 through 5 go
from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. The cost is $120. Older players go from 9 a.m.

First annual lacrosse refereeing camp scheduled

The first annual Midcoast Lacrosse Refereeing Camp will be held July 6
through 9 at Bowdoin College. Times are 3:30 to 8:30 p.m. the first
three days and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on July 9. Directed by Mary Parker and
Sue Perkins, the camp features classroom instruction, mechanics, game
tape analysis, rules clarification, extensive on-field mentoring and

Odyssey Sport tryouts upcoming

Odyssey Sport ’97 will hold tryouts beginning July 8 for its U-12-U-18
