Maine Baseball Hall of Fame taking nominations

The Maine Baseball Hall of Fame, founded in 1969, is seeking nominations for its 2010 induction class. Players, coaches, umpires, organizers and benefactors from all corners of the state who have achieved prominence in, or made valuable contributions to, baseball in Maine, will be considered.

Thanksgiving Day race upcoming

The 28th running of the Portland Thanksgiving Day 4-miler will begin at 9 a.m., Thursday. There will also be a Kids’ 4K starting at 8:30 a.m. This year’s food drive recipient will be Project Feed. FMI, gtowle@usm.maine.edu.

Portland/Deering fundrasier dance upcoming

An Alumni and Friends Sports Fundraiser Dance will be held Friday from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. at the newly renovated Italian Heritage Center, with proceeds benefitting the Portland and Deering’s athletic departments. The band Color Blind, featuring three Portland High graduates, will be special guests. Tickets are $15 apiece. Anyone 21 and over is welcome. FMI, 797-6803 or 871-0090.
