Local runners named to Coaches’ cross country all-star team

Emily Durgin, Fiona Hendry and Liana Rubinoff of the cross country Class A state champion Cheverus Stags were named to the Maine Track and Cross Country Coaches’ Association all-star team. Teammate Amelia Lundkvist, along with Deering’s Ella Ramonas, was an honorable mention.
The boys’ team featured state champ Cheverus’ Taylor Dundas and Jack Terwilliger as honorable mentions.

Fourth-annual “Fix Cup” upcoming

The fourth-annual “Fix Cup” hockey tournament, featuring four local teams, honoring late broadcaster Frank Fixaris, will be held Saturday at the Portland Ice Arena. Biddeford and Thornton Academy meet at 11:30 a.m. Falmouth and Cape Elizabeth square off at 1:30 p.m. The consolation game starts at 5:30 p.m. The championship game is at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $5 for adults and $3 for students. Proceeds go to a scholarship fund to benefit a student-athlete going on to college, likely in the communications field.
