PBC hosting New England championships

The Portland Boxing Club will host the 2011-12 USA Boxing New England Championships starting Saturday at 8 p.m. The semifinals will be held Sat., Nov. 12 at PBC, which is located at 33 Allen Ave., in Portland. The championships are at the Stevens Avenue Armory, 772 Stevens Ave., Sat. Nov. 26. “Irish” Micky Ward, subject of the movie, “The Fighter,” will make an appearance at the finals. Advance tickets are available at Bruno’s Restaurant, 33 Allen Ave., Tickets for Nov. 5 and 12 are $15. AAU baseball tryout upcoming

Field hockey premier team holding tryouts

The Katahdin Field Hockey Club, one of the top travel teams in Maine, is holding tryouts Nov. 12 from 1 – 4 p.m. and YourSpace Sports and Recreation Complex in Gorham and Nov. 19 from 9 a.m. to noon at the University of Southern Maine in Gorham.
