Soccer official course

The Western Maine Board of Approved Soccer Officials, which provides officials too schools in York and Cumberland Counties, is conducting a basic soccer officials’ course Aug. 5, 8, 12, 15, 19 and 22 from 6 to 8 p.m. and Aug. 18 at a time to be announced at the Gorham Municipal Center. SMCC seeking Hall of Fame nominations

Southern Maine Community College is accepting nominations for its upcoming Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The deadline is Wednesday.  The committee will review all nominations after that date and then make announcement on the 2012 induction class.  To nominate an individual or team, email mrichards@smccme.edu or gosmccseawolves.com/seawolvesAthleticsClub/HOF_Nomination_Form. The annual Hall of Fame induction ceremony is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 13. 

SMCC names new coaches

Southern Maine Community College has named Jared Lemieux is new baseball coach and Emily Leverone as its new softball coach. Lemieux replaces Phil Desjardins, who retired after 16 seasons. Lemieux was previously the baseball coach at Maranacook High School in Readfield. Leverone is coming off a playing career at St. Joseph’s College in Standish.
