PORTLAND — The city is redesigning its website, which will feature photographs submitted by the public.

Professional and amateur photographers are being asked to send their images to the city by Friday, Sept. 27, City Hall spokeswoman Nicole Clegg said last week.

The photos can depict architecture, landscapes, cityscapes, people, activities, nature, animals, culture or art. “They should catch the eye, create an impression or elicit an emotion about life in Portland,” Clegg said.

Photos selected for the site will include credits and information about the photographers.

Submitted photos should measure a minimum of 1280 x 1024 pixels, with a resolution of 72 dpi. The photos should not be submitted with filters or cropping. Each photo must be accompanied by a short explanation and information about the photographer, and photos of people should be provided with the individual’s consent.

Submissions should be sent to Clegg at nicoleclegg@portlandmaine.gov.
