PORTLAND — The Portland School Board is seeking members for a new budget task force.

The Budget and Revenue Advisory Task Force is assigned with identifying financial opportunities to support the school district, according to a district press release.

The board wants members of the public interested in becoming part of the 13-member task force to have a background in “raising or providing major funding and in-kind donations to support large organizations or programs,” according to the district.

The task force is tasked with creating “public-private partnerships, acquiring competitive grants, increasing technological efficiencies, starting programs and other initiatives that could generate revenue, funding capital and technology investments and pursuing local and state funding sources other than property taxes that could become available through local or state initiatives, such as a local option sales tax.”

Applicants should send a letter describing their experience and interest to the district Executive Assistant Patty Apon at aponp@portlandschools.org.
