PORTLAND — The School Board is seeking input on a draft policy to increase parent engagement.

The board established the Parent Partnership Ad Hoc Committee in August with the goal of reviewing and revising the Portland Public Schools Parent Involvement Policy. Parents, staff and others can respond to the draft by Dec. 10 by going to https://goo.gl/forms/6QwIbTxnfkyDMBNq1.

The board directed the committee to consult the Parent and Family Engagement Manifesto and use elements of that document in the revised policy. The manifesto was developed by Portland Empowered and endorsed by the board and outlines how the district can better engage with parents and families. Portland Empowered is a project of the University of Southern Maine Muskie School of Public Service.
