PORTLAND — The School Board is reviewing current and projected enrollment and programming needs against current facility use.

As part of this process, the School Department is conducting an online community survey. The short questionnaire is available at www.portlandschools.org through Oct. 31.

The survey, which is offered in multiple languages, asks respondents to list their priorities for the schools, what efficiencies should be considered and how or where the School Department could get additional funding.

In addition, the School Board will also be creating a special commission to make recommendations on possible efficiencies. The commission will include board members, City Councilors, district staff and up to six community members with diverse backgrounds and expertise.

The board is scheduled to hold a special meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 9, to appoint members to the Enrollment and Facility Study Commission, which is set to report back by the end of the year.
