Portland Public Schools announced Monday that it closed on the $2.7 million purchase of the former Goodwill Industries building at 353 Cumberland Ave. The building will be the new home of the School Department’s Central Office, plus the West Program and the Multilingual and Multicultural Center. The district plans to move into the three-story, 50,000-square-foot space by fall. Legal fees and renovations are estimated at an additional $900,000.
