Give blood at Hall School

Fifth grade students at Hall Elementary School, with the help of the American Red Cross, will hold a blood drive to honor school nurses. The drive will take place 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, May 22 in the gym. Hall School is located at 23 Orono Road. The students’ goal is 5o pints of blood, the amount collected at a blood drive at the school a year ago.

PATHS seniors to graduate Friday

Portland Arts and Technology High School will hold its commencement ceremonies Friday in sessions from 8:30-10:15 a.m., and11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. Both ceremonies are open to the public and will be held in the B Building  in the carpentry lab area. PATHS is located at 196 Allen Ave.

McAuley student named Presidential Scholar

Catherine McAuley High School senior and Windham resident Taylor Church was named a 2013 U.S. Presidential Scholar by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. Church is one of 141 outstanding American high school seniors who demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, artistic excellence, leadership, citizenship, service, and made contributions to their schools and communities. The U.S. Presidential Scholars will be honored June 15-18 in Washington, D.C.
