McAuley hosts 5K
‘Run for Hope’ May 15

PORTLAND — Catherine McAuley High School’s fourth annual 5K Run for Hope will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 15 at Catherine McAuley High School. 

All proceeds raised from the event will benefit the Jim and Maxine Pouravelis Scholarship Fund, which provides  financial assistance to young women seeking an education at Catherine McAuley High School.

Participants may participate in a 5K USATF certified run to begin at 10 a.m. or a 2.5 mile walk starting at 10:15 a.m.

Pre-registration before May 13 costs $15; registration on race day for $20 begins at 8 a.m.

The first 250 people to register will receive a race T-shirt.

Pledges are due on race day, and the highest pledge total wins Red Sox tickets.

Portland schools hold
free public concerts

PORTLAND — The Portland Public Schools will hold free concerts open to the public at the following dates and locations:  7 p.m., Tuesday, May 18, Portland High School auditorium; 7 p.m., Wednesday, May 26, Deering High School auditorium; 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 1, King Middle School; 7 p.m. Wednesday June 2, Lincoln Middle School; 7 p.m. Thursday, June 3, Lyman Moore Middle School; 7 p.m. Monday, June 7, Deering High School auditorium.

Also, the Bridge Music Festival will held June 7 at Deering Oaks Park from 12 to 8:30 p.m. The rain location for the festival is the Portland Expo.
 
Comedy, juggling show
to benefit Casco Bay H.S.

PORTLAND — Comedian and juggler Randy Judkins will perform a family show on May 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the Portland High School auditorium as a fundraiser for Casco Bay High School’s student programs.

Tickets at the door are $15 for adults and $10 for students and seniors.  Admission is free for children under age 5. Advance tickets are $12 for adults and $7 for students and seniors and can be purchased by calling 619-2767.

Money raised from the event will support Casco Bay High School’s special Expeditionary Learning events, the school’s Junior Journey to work with Habitat for Humanity, and Project Graduation.

King Middle holds annual
project show May 13

PORTLAND — Students from King Middle School are presenting the annual Celebration of Learning on May 13 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Portland Expo. 

Students from all three grades will have the opportunity to present their projects to the public.

The event is being held in conjunction with King’s 15th annual Expeditionary Learning site seminar for teachers on May 13 and 14.
