The Portland Public Schools will hold graduation ceremonies at the following times:

• Portland High School: June 2, 10:30 a.m., Merrill Auditorium.

• Casco Bay High School: June 2, 6 p.m., Merrill Auditorium.

• Deering High School: June 3, 10:30 a.m., Portland Expo.

• Portland Adult Education, June 3, 6 p.m., Merrill Auditorium.

Devlin, McCabe earn
national scholarships

EVANSTON, Ill. — Deering High School seniors Nicholas S. Devlin and Jean H. McCabe were both awarded a National Merit Scholarship in the amount of $2,500.

Their awards are supported by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation’s own funds.

Devlin and McCabe were chosen from a group of 15,000 finalists in the 2010 National Merit Scholarship Program.

Portland schools earn
grants for fresh foods

PORTLAND — Four Portland elementary schools have been awarded grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Maine Child Nutrition Program to provide fresh fruits and vegetables to students.

The schools receiving the grants are Presumpscot, Riverton, Reiche and East End Community School.
 
The grant program will enable the Portland Public Schools to serve fresh fruit or vegetable snacks four days a week to 1,500 students.

McCarthy receives
Rotary scholarship

PORTLAND — Sarah McCarthy of Catherine McAuley High School has received the Portland Rotary Youth Service Scholarship.

Daughter of David and Elizabeth McCarthy of Sebago, The award is given to students who best reflect the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self.”

McCarthy plans on attending Norwich University in the fall.
