PORTLAND — A booster club has donated nearly $11,000 to the School Department for use in music programs.

About $7,000 of the Portland Music Boosters’ donation will support individual schools’ music programs, while the remaining nearly $3,900 will be used to repair musical instruments owned by the School Department. It may also be used to purchase new instruments.

“These donations, and the continued support of our music program over the years, have been a blessing for our teachers, students and families,” Superintendent Emmanuel Caulk said in a press release last week.

Past donations have made it possible for the high school and middle school orchestra programs to build performance libraries with original orchestrations and scores, according to the press release.
