PORTLAND — Starting in May, the Greater Portland Transit District, or METRO, and South Portland Bus Service will begin offering a regional monthly bus pass in an effort to simplify travel on both systems.

The pass will be sold for $45 a month for travel throughout Portland, South Portland, Westbrook and Falmouth, METRO spokeswoman Denise Beck said in a press release.

Beck said the current METRO monthly pass for $40 will no longer be sold, but other fare options, such as the TenRide tickets and Summer Youth bus pass will still be offered. Free transfers will also continue.
