PORTLAND — Police arrested 25-year-old Corey Shepard of Portland Friday, Jan. 15, in connection with the stabbing of a Cabot Street man.

Shepard was charged with elevated aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing Sebastian Kelley, 29, at 8 Cabot St. in Sagamore Village on Thursday, Jan. 14, in what police said was a drug-related family dispute.

Shepard surrendered to Gorham police, according to a Portland Police Department press release.

Assistant Police Chief Vern Malloch said Kelley fled to a residence on Bridge Street in Westbrook before being taken to Maine Medical Center, where his wounds were determined not to be life threatening.

Police learned of the incident at 5:15 p.m., when they were called to the hospital.

The class A crime is still under investigation and witnesses are encouraged to contact the detective division at 874-8533.
