PORTLAND — Police on Wednesday released the name of a 49-year-old homicide victim whose body was found in his Cumberland Avenue apartment.

The body of Freddy Okoa of Portland was found at 457 Cumberland Ave. on Tuesday by representatives of the building management company who were checking his well-being at the request of a family member, police said.

An autopsy was performed on Okoa’s body by doctors at the state Medical Examiner’s office in Augusta on Wednesday. Police Lt. James Sweatt declined to comment on the autopsy results, but said that the homicide appears to be an isolated incident.

“We do not believe that others are at risk,” Sweatt said Wednesday.
