PORTLAND — Police believe a body recovered from the harbor Saturday, Feb. 20, is that of a Saco man missing since Jan. 1.
Police Lt. James Sweatt said the body, discovered near DiMillo’s Marina at 166 Commercial St., was tentatively identified as James Dyer, 23. Dyer was reported missing at 1:45 a.m. Jan. 1.
The body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Augusta for positive identification and to determine a cause of death.
Dyer was last seen in the area of Commercial and Dana streets, Sweatt said. Divers from Portland, South Portland and the Maine Warden’s Service had searched for Dyer in the weeks after his disappearance in an investigation led by the Saco Police Department.
