PORTLAND — Police Department Lt. Gary Rogers was promoted to commander, the department’s third highest rank, on May 11.
Rogers joined the department in 1988 and has served as the Special Reaction Team commander and most recently as detective lieutenant in charge of the criminal investigations division.
As commander, Rogers will oversee staffing and direct police activities, evaluate the department’s goals and efficiency, and ensure that targeted crime prevention activities are proactive, according to a press release.
