PORTLAND — Police are seeking help in solving a series of burglaries in the Libbytown and University of Southern Maine neighborhoods last week.

Lt. James Sweatt said the same perpetrator is suspected in nighttime break-ins at homes on Craigie, Woodmont, Bolton and Frances streets, and Twin Knolls Lane. The suspect has entered homes through unlocked doors and windows, and stolen cash, credit cards and small electronic devices.

Sweatt said the burglaries are “an unusual and concerning trend” because homes were occupied. He said residents should lock doors and windows at night, and report any suspicious activity.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call police at 874-8533. Anonymous tips can also be texted to police at 274637, using the keyword “GOTCHA.”
