PORTLAND — Police are searching for two vehicles whose occupants are believed to have been involved in a Gilman Street shooting Wednesday morning.

Assistant Police Chief Vern Malloch said it appears several gunshots were fired around 8:25 a.m. Oct. 19 outside 105 Gilman St., between Congress Street and Park Avenue.

Malloch said witnesses reported two men, possibly the targets, running from the scene. A silver Toyota Prius and “an older model, silver Honda CRV with a spare tire mounted on the rear hatch” were seen driving away before police arrived.

Malloch said no injuries were reported in the incident, but bullets struck the building and the window of an unoccupied apartment. No motives are known, he said, but it appears the people involved knew each other.
