PORTLAND — Police announced today that a second man has been charged with murder in connection with the shooting death of Serge Mulongo.
Mulongo, a 24-year-old from Portland, was fatally shot Feb. 10 at 218 Park Ave.
Police Thursday afternoon arrested Moses Okot, 21 years old, and charged him with murder, according to an email sent to the media today from police Capt. Ted Ross.
On Feb. 12, Portland police arrested Daudoit Butsitsi, 24, and charged him with killing Mulongo. Witnesses of the shooting had told police they saw two black men running from the scene.
Mulongo was a native of the Democratic Republic of Congo, as is Butsitsi.
Okot is a brother of David Okot, the man police fatally shot in April on Weymouth Street. Mulongo was murdered just two blocks away, at the corner of Weymouth and Park Avenue. The Okots are originally from Sudan.
Okot was expected in court Friday afternoon.
