PORTLAND — Portland Pirates owner Brian Petrovek was arrested for drunk driving early Wednesday and released on bail, police said.

Petrovek, 57, was charged with operating under the influence after his Jeep Wrangler crashed around 1:15 a.m. and became stuck on a concrete median at the corner of Spring and Center streets in Portland.

Petrovek was trying to free the vehicle when police arrived. He was given field sobriety tests and taken to Cumberland County Jail, where he was booked and released on bail.

No other vehicles were involved and Petrovek was driving alone, according to police.

Petrovek, a Yarmouth resident, has been managing owner and CEO since 2000 of the Pirates, a minor-league affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Phoenix Coyotes.
