PORTLAND — Police said the city resident struck by a moped May 17 died from his injuries May 21.

Lt. Clifford Strout announced the death of David Burnham, 52, in a press release Monday.

Burnham, whose address was not released, died at Maine Medical Center, where he had been hospitalized since the accident on Brighton Avenue.

Police said Burnham was trying to cross Brighton Avenue near the intersection with St. John Street around 8:35 p.m. when he was hit by a 2007 Honda moped ridden by city resident Kelly McGovern. She was unhurt in the collision.

While offering the department’s condolences to Burnhams’ family, Strout said the Police Traffic Division is still investigating the accident. Anyone with information is asked to call 874-8532.
