PORTLAND — Top dog and top cop honors went to the Police Department team of Officer Christian Stickney and dog Blaze on Friday, Sept. 26, in Poughkeepsie, New York.

City spokeswoman Jessica Grondin announced Monday that the team competed against 22 other teams from the Northeast in an event sponsored by the Poughkeepsie Police Department and Robbyfarm, a training facility in Florida and Belgium.

The team also won a narcotics detection competition with a perfect score. The competition was certified by the Eastern Police Canine Association, Grondin said.

Stickney has trained three police dogs for the city and is certified to train other departments as well.
