PORTLAND — Property owners hoping to reduce a new city fee to fund storm-water system improvements can learn more at a June 16 workshop at Deering High School, 730 Stevens Ave.

The 4 p.m. workshop will bring together specialists, engineers and landscape architects, and staff from the city and Cumberland County Soil and Water Conservation District, to show how to reduce a property’s impervious surfaces.

The monthly $6 per 1,200-square-foot fee will be assessed beginning in January 2016 to all public and private property owners to help offset the costs of installing dedicated storm-water pipelines, treatment systems, and improvements at the Portland Water District treatment plant near East End Beach.

Property owners can find out how much they will be billed and how to obtain credits for improvements at cleangrowthcleanwater.com.
