PORTLAND — Passengers can book ferry reservations to Nova Scotia, after the Federal Maritime Commission on March 19 granted a certificate of performance to Nova Star Cruises.

Daily trips between Portland and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, are scheduled to begin May 15 and operate through Oct. 31.

Last week, Nova Star spokesman Dennis Bailey said the ship departed Singapore and is expected to arrive in Yarmouth in mid-April. The cruise line also reached a seven-year lease agreement for its terminal in Yarmouth, Bailey said.
