PORTLAND — The Portland Museum of Art announced Monday that it has been awarded a $100,000 grant from the Sam L. Cohen Foundation to support the first two years of educational programming for the Winslow Homer Studio at Prouts Neck in Scarborough.

The studio, where American artist Winslow Homer painted some of his iconic works, is scheduled to open in September 2012, and will offer educational programs for small community groups, students, teachers and young artists.
