PORTLAND — The annual Memorial Day parade, commemorating those who have died while serving in the U.S. military, is set to step off at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, May 28.

The parade, organized by the American Legion Harold T. Andrews Post No. 17, will march on Congress Street from Longfellow to Monument squares. The parade will be followed by a ceremony in Monument Square.

Street closures for staging from 9 a.m.-noon will include Congress Street, from Mellen to State streets; State Street, from Cumberland Avenue to Congress Street, and Dow Street, from Congress to Brackett streets.

Closures during the parade from 10:15 a.m.-noon will include Congress Street, from State to Temple streets; High Street, from Spring to Deering streets; Forest Avenue, from Cumberland Avenue to Congress Street; Casco Street, from Shepley to Congress streets; Center Street, from Free to Congress streets; Preble Street, from Cumberland Avenue to Congress Street, and Federal Street Extension, from Monument Square to Temple Street (10 a.m.-noon).
