PORTLAND — The annual Memorial Day parade and commemoration ceremony is scheduled to being at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 26.

Organized by the American Legion Harold T. Andrews Post No. 17, the parade will begin at Longfellow Square at State and Congress streets and march east along Congress Street to Monument Square. The parade will be followed by a ceremony in Monument Square.

The parade and its preparations will require street closures beginning at 9 a.m. on Congress Street from Mellen to State streets, State Street from Congress Street to Cumberland Avenue, and Dow Street from Congress to Brackett streets.

At 10:15 a.m., Congress Street will be closed from State to Temple streets, while portions of High, Casco, Center and Preble streets and Forest Avenue will also be closed. Traffic delays should also be expected in the parade area. All streets are scheduled to reopen at noon.
