PORTLAND — Mayor Ethan Strimling’s new special assistant will begin work Monday, April 4.

Jason J. Shedlock will be “be responsible for assisting Mayor Strimling with public policy expectations and goals,” city spokeswoman Jessica Grondin said in a March 25 press release.

Shedlock, who will be paid $64,000 annually, most recently served as deputy director of the Sagadahoc County Emergency Management Agency. He is also a former chief of staff for a city councilor in Washington, D.C.

Strimling said Shedlock will be a liaison between his office, residents, and the City Council, and will stand in for the mayor when Strimling is unable to attend events or meetings.
