PORTLAND — A Portland man is in critical condition following a head-on collision on Interstate 295 Monday night.

Paul Regan, 37, of Dayton, was heading south in a 2002 Toyota 4Runner around 9 p.m. when he lost control and crossed into the median, according to a release from Steve McCausland, spokesman for the Maine Department of Public Safety.

Regan’s vehicle went airborne after hitting the guardrail, and he collided with a 2014 Jeep Cherokee driven by Nicholas Dubose, 26, of Portland.

Dubose suffered a serious head injury, according to McCausland, and was in critical condition Tuesday morning at Maine Medical Center. Regan and Dubose’s passenger, Thomas Netting, 25, both suffered minor injuries.

The accident is still being investigated.
