PORTLAND — A city man was sentenced to 14 years in prison Dec. 19 for severely beating his 8-week-old daughter July 1, 2017, at their Highland Street home.

Brandon Coleman, 30, was found guilty Nov. 9 in the Cumberland County Unified Criminal Docket on single counts of Class A and B aggravated assault and a class C charge of assault on a minor, Cumberland County district attorney’s spokeswoman Tamara Getchell said in a press release.

Justice Deborah Cashman imposed a sentence of 20 years with all but 14 suspended. During the six years’ probation, Coleman must have no contact with his daughter while paying court-ordered child support and undergoing a psychological evaluation and counseling.
