BRUNSWICK — A Portland man was seriously injured Thursday morning after losing control of his car on the exit 28 ramp from Interstate 295, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman Steve McCausland said in a press release.

Christopher Doran, 35, suffered head injuries and was taken to Maine Medical Center in Portland. The accident took place around 7:45 a.m. on the exit ramp to U.S. Route 1.

Maine State Police Trooper Marvin Hinkley said it appeared Doran overcorrected his Subaru station wagon as he was leaving the highway and then struck several trees at the side of the road.

The car was destroyed and the exit closed for three hours while the scene was cleared, but McCausland said Interstate 295 traffic was unaffected.
