PORTLAND — A Portland man faces six charges related to sex trafficking of a minor after his April 11 indictment by a Cumberland County grand jury.

Alexander Mitchell, 20, whose last known address in court records was 343 Cumberland Ave., was indicted on three counts of Class B aggravated sex trafficking, a Class D charge of sex trafficking, a Class B charge of tampering with a victim and a Class D charge of terrorizing.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt or innocence, it is a determination that enough evidence exists to prosecute.

Court records indicate four incidents in early November 2013 where Mitchell arranged for a 16-year-old victim to engage in prostitution. The gender of the victim was not listed in records, and Assistant District Attorney Meg Elam declined to provide further information.

Mitchell also allegedly threatened the victim to withhold information when it was apparent police were investigating him. There was no listing of when Mitchell may appear in the Cumberland County Unified Criminal Docket in Portland.
