PORTLAND — A city man was arrested April 29 for allegedly selling medical marijuana he bought legally.

Danny Mitchell, 48, remained in Cumberland County Jail in Portland on $5,000 bail Monday after being charged with Class D unlawful trafficking in Schedule Z drugs.

Commander Scott Pelletier of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency said agents working in the area of the Wellness Connection of Maine at 685 Congress St. observed Mitchell sell marijuana he bought at the dispensary to a man in a nearby parking lot.

Pelletier said Mitchell was arrested at about 4 p.m. on State Street. He is licensed to buy medical marijuana, but Pelletier said he was on probation for an unnamed conviction.

Mitchell’s alleged customer was stopped on the 800 block of Congress Street. Pelletier said he told officers he was from Massachusetts and ineligible to buy medical marijuana in Maine. Agents confiscated a gram of marijuana before releasing him.
