PORTLAND — The domestic partner of a Riverton woman shot Jan. 7 was arrested Jan. 13 and charged with her murder.
Anthony Leng, 40, of 46 Dorothy St., allegedly killed Sokha Khuon in the home they shared, Lt. Robert Martin said in a Police Department press release. Dorothy Street is north of Morrill’s Corner and off Forest Avenue.
An autopsy by the state Office of the Medical Examiner determined Khuon died from multiple gunshot wounds. Her death was ruled a homicide.
Leng was arrested and charged Jan. 13 after coming to the Police Department at 109 Middle St. around 9 a.m., Martin said.
The shooting occurred around 10 p.m. Jan. 7 at the couple’s house, while the couple’s two children were at home, Martin said. The children, ages 10 and 15, were unharmed and are now staying with relatives.
“Domestic violence murders are tragic and devastating. We extend our condolences to Ms. Khuon’s family, friends, coworkers, and neighbors,” Martin added.
He also urged anyone experiencing domestic violence to call the Family Crisis Services hotline at 800-537-6066.
The investigation remains open despite Leng’s arrest, Martin said.
