PORTLAND — An Ocean Avenue resident faces two drug distribution charges after a Feb. 26 raid at his apartment near an elementary school.

Ronald Gullikson, 49, of 144 Ocean Ave., was charged with two counts of Class A aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs after his 9 p.m. arrest by the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, which acted with assistance from city police.

Gullikson was taken to Cumberland County Jail and held on $5,000 bail and two outstanding warrants for failure to pay traffic fines. His bail on the warrants was set at $1,240. Jail officials said he was still being held Monday.

“Agents seized evidence indicative of drug trafficking to include a number of digital scales, cutting agents and packaging materials,” MDEA Commander Scott Pelletier said in a news release.

The raid of Gullikson’s second-floor apartment came after a joint investigation into what Pelletier called a “group distributing crack cocaine,” and required assistance from the police special reaction team. Three people detained at the time of the raid were released without charges.

Pelletier credited residents of Ocean Avenue for alerting police to the alleged drug dealing and said it was of concern because Gullikson lives next to Ocean Avenue Elementary School.
