Emergency responders from Portland, South Portland and Gorham attend to “victims” – each with unique injuries and physical conditions – in the triage area of a disaster drill on Saturday at Portland International Jetport. The exercise also included emergency crews from Cumberland, Falmouth and Westbrook. Hospitals participated, too; each “victim” was transported to a local emergency room for treatment.

Firefighters treat a mock “victim” as part of the disaster simulation Saturday at the Portland International Jetport. The multi-agency test of the airport’s emergency plan is required by the federal government every three years. This year’s exercise simulated a fire that engulfs a commercial airliner while passengers are boarding, with 70 casualties on and around the aircraft.
