PORTLAND — Training and equipment purchases for city firefighters and emergency responders got a $32,000 boost last week from a federal grant.

U.S. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Angus King, an independent, announced the Assistance to Firefighter Grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency in an April 20 press release.

“This grant will help ensure that firefighters at the Portland Fire Department have the proper training and skills to support them in their important work,” Collins and King said.
