PORTLAND — The Fire Department’s 250th anniversary will be celebrated in print and at a public event at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 29, at the Portland Fire Museum, 157 Spring St.

The museum will be open to the public for the event and tours. Fire Chief David Jackson, department historian Mike Daicy, and the department Honor Guard will be on hand to commemorate the anniversary.

A commemorative book, “Portland Firefighting,” is being sold for $20. Sale proceeds will benefit the museum.

The anniversary will also be celebrated at a private gala Saturday, March 31, at Holiday Inn by the Bay, 88 Spring St.
