SOUTH PORTLAND — A brewpub is in the works at a former auto repair shop in Knightville.

Craig and Julia Dilger of Portland have purchased the building at 15 Ocean St., according to a statement released Thursday by publicist Kelsey Goldsmith.

The Dilgers are working with two Portland-based engineering firms to renovate the building at the corner of A Street, but have not obtained city business permits.

The name of the establishment was not announced, and the identities of brewers, and chefs were not released, because they have existing commitments.

“But all come with prestigious resumes, and will collaborate to offer an unpretentious yet modern and comfortable aesthetic in terms of food, drink and experience,” according to the announcement.

The brewpub will offer the only beer brewed commercially in South Portland, the release said, as well as weekend brunch.

According to the EaterMaine website, Craig Dilger, who will serve as chief operating officer, is an avid home brewer who operated Foulmouthed Brewing. He has also worked at Ebenezer’s Pub in Brunswick.

Julia Dilger, who will serve as chief executive officer, said Knightville is a “quintessential New England village with a great community vibe.”

She taught elementary school on Peaks Island and has managed a Broadway concessions operation in New York City, according to the release.

The Dilgers are also planning a neighborhood meeting at City Hall as the project progresses; details can be found online at http://goo.gl/ynmJVc.

“They’re psyched to have found an amazing spot in a great neighborhood,” the announcement said.
