PORTLAND — The Portland Community Health Center, at 180 Park Ave. and 63 Preble St., will receive federal funding to fight opioid use.

The $325,000 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services grant was announced March 10 by U.S. Sens. Susan Collins, R-Maine, and Angus King, I-Maine.

The health center is one of four in Maine to receive funding specifically for substance use disorder services, including medication-assisted treatment for recovery from opioid use.

Other recipients of $325,000 grants were the Health Access Network, based in Lincoln, and the Penobscot Community Health Center in Bangor. Healthreach Community Health Centers in Waterville received a $250,000 grant.
