Portland church to host wage, education forums

PORTLAND — A public forum on wage inequality will be held Monday, Aug. 31, at the First Parish Church, 425 Congress St.

Moderator Ralph Carmona said the forum panel includes Maine State Nurses Association President Cokie Giles, John Hanson of the University of Maine at Orono, former National Education Association Coordinator and Director Rachel Hendrickson, and Elaine Bernard of Harvard Law School. The forum begins with a 5:30 p.m. reception.

On Sept. 14, a forum on the future of public education in Maine will feature a panel inluding former state Sen. Glenn Cummings, Southern Maine Community College President Ron Cantor, John T. Gorman Foundation President and CEO Tony Cipollone, and Casco Bay High School Principal Derek Pierce. This forum also beings with a 5:30 p.m. reception.
