PORTLAND — The public is invited to weigh in on the proposed $221 million fiscal year 2016 municipal budget at two forums on Tuesday, April 28, and Wednesday, April 29.
The first begins at 6:30 p.m. in the cafeteria at Deering High School, 370 Stevens Ave. The second is at 4:30 p.m. in the State of Maine Room on the second floor of City Hall, 389 Congress St.
Before the forums, the public is invited to watch a video on the on the budget and take a short survey for responses that will help guide the forums. The video and survey can be found at the city website through May 5.
The budget is before the City Council Finance Committee, which will hold meetings Thursday and April 30 before making its recommendations to the full City Council.
The council is expected to have a first reading of the budget on May 4 before a May 18 vote. Public comment will be taken at both meetings.
