PORTLAND — The Portland International Jetport and Brunswick Executive Airport are among recipients of $6.9 million in federal grants announced July 20 by U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree, D-Maine.

The Jetport will receive $3.87 million from the Federal Aviation Administration, while $200,000 was awarded to Brunswick.

In Portland, the funding will be spent on repairing and expanding apron areas serving aircraft and adding 900 feet of shoulder to Taxiway C to bring it up to federal standards, according to Pingree’s press release.

In Brunswick, the grant will fund repairs to a taxiway and apron area.

Airports in Biddeford, Sanford, Wiscasset, Waterville and Knox County also received grants.
